DeNA dedicates 10% of staff to Nintendo mobile games
Around 10% of DeNA’s games staff are dedicated to working on games as part of its partnership with Nintendo.
This is according to the company’s CEO Isao Moriyasu, who was asked about resource allocation in the games business as part of a business strategy briefing Q&A session on July 19th 2017.
We continue to place high priority on titles in the Nintendo Alliance. We have a little more than 1,000 people in the Game & Entertainment Business Unit, with about 100 directly participating in development for the Nintendo Alliance,” he said.
The team was also asked for an update on its relationship with Nintendo. Head of Game & Entertainment Business Unit Takeshi Matsui simply replied, “our partnership is going extremely well.”
Beyond Nintendo, Moriyasu has said that DeNA is currently exploring porting its mobile games to other platforms, including PC, browser, and potentially consoles. It is also looking into developing HTML5 titles.
DeNA saw revenues hit $1.26 billion in its last financial year, helped mostly by sales from Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. It is currently looking to expand its partnerships even further, and has plans to develop IP with studios in China.
